IMPORTANT: UNIFORM DRESS CODE

The School Board and the uniform committee would like to inform parents and students of the following information and reminders. Our uniform supplier, Dennis Uniform, at 250 South Flower St., Burbank, 843-8306, has the complete uniform components in stock (see Dennis information sheet for directions to the store).

Jackets, Sweaters, & Sweatshirts: Only white, navy blue or black jackets, sweaters and sweat-shirts may be worn to school. No labels, logos, symbols, or other decorations. They must fit reasonably and complement the uniform. Rainwear for wet weather is OK in any color. School jackets may be ordered from Dennis.

Shoes: White, black or navy blue only. Trim should be of the same color combinations. Bright trim colors that do not complement the uniform are not acceptable; no pastels, no flashing lights, no backless shoes or clogs, etc.

Socks: White or navy blue. No color combinations and no decorations, logos, etc.

Slacks/Shorts: Navy blue only (no black); plain with no trim, colored stitching, labels, etc. No blue jeans or sweatpants. Leggings or tights may be worn only under a jumper or skirt. Walking shorts (not sport shorts) should be no shorter than mid-thigh. Pants and shorts are available from Dennis.

Jumpers: The navy jumper and plaid jumper are available at Dennis Uniform Co. Jumpers should fit. They are designed to be worn above the knee with the waistband in the proper location and should fit well for a minimum of two years.

Shirts: Polo or button-up; white or powder blue, with collar. No labels, logos, symbols or other decorations. (Shirts with school logo are also available in the school office.)

Skirts: Optional for 5th and 6th grade girls only; uniform plaid or navy blue (no decoration). A nice, trim pleated skirt is available at Dennis Co.

Haircut Styles: Should be neat, conventional, not faddish (such as wedge cuts, extreme step cuts,“skaters” cut, chop shaves, tails, Mohawks, etc.) and in keeping with the traditional uniform mode. Boys’ hair cannot cover eyebrows or collar. Girls’ hair accessories should be white, navy or black, not red, pink, purple, green, etc. Hair coloring and bleaching are not permitted.

Jewelry, Make-up, & Nail Polish: Are not permitted. Small ear studs or small, simple hoops (to maintain pierced ears) are acceptable.

We expect and appreciate your cooperation in helping us to maintain our uniform/dress code. The time and effort required to take care of arguments and problems arising from “test cases” could better be spent in educational pursuits.
